DESCRIPTION:

Our program instructors have the role of engaging, inspiring, and coaching other climbers. Our mission through our experiential and instructional programs is to share our love of climbing, and to use climbing as a vehicle for personal growth.

DETAILS:

Our youth programs are as follows:
  • Groundlings (ages 4-5): 7:45-10:15am Sundays
  • Pebble Wrestlers (grades 1-3): 3:30-5:30pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
  • Shapeshifters (grades 4-7): 3:30-5:30pm Mondays, Thursdays, and 5:30-7:30pm Fridays
  • Superflys (grades 8+): 5:30-7:30pm Tuesdays and 7:30-9:30pm Fridays

Our adult programs are as follows:
  • Wake ‘N Take (adults): 5:45-10:30am Wednesdays and Fridays
  • Womxn Crush Wednesday (adults): 6:30-8:30pm Wednesdays

Instructor shifts will align with these times which include paid prep and clean-up time. Our fall programs run for 11-12 weeks from September 9 to November 29. Winter and spring programs will run on a similar schedule from January to March, and April to June. Instructors can work just one day a week, or up to 5 days, with preference given to those who can work all 11-12 weeks.

DUTIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
  • Help create a positive, welcoming community atmosphere
  • Maintain supervision for children from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the gym and its programs
  • Teach technical skills that you have been trained to deliver
  • Help facilitate games and other activities
  • Help manage the risks associated with indoor rock climbing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
  • Possesses a love for all things climbing
  • Models a Growth Mindset approach in your own conduct and in your leadership
  • Is patient, curious, and attentive
  • Has excellent group and risk-management skills for indoor top rope climbing, lead climbing, and related activities
  • Has valid first-aid training and certification (Basic First Aid or better)
  • Is able to provide a clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector
  • ACMG climbing gym instructor (CGI) and/or top rope climbing instructor (TRCI) certification or equivalent is highly preferred

COMPENSATION AND PERKS:
  • Compensation will be based on experience and certification ($18.70-$25)

Pay: $18.70-$25.00 per hour
