Job Specifications:

  • Expected Pay Range: Salary commensurate with experience
  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Full Time October through May
  • Skill Level: Advanced

Guide Manager Responsibilities:

  • Leads early morning weather decision making call
  • Participates in go-no-go decisions at meetings and field area selection.
  • Oversees risk management in the field in conjunction with Operations Manager and GM
  • Lead Guides
  • Evening Grouping of Guests in conjunction with Management Team
  • Oversees Daily operational planning and risk management in meetings in conjunction with Operations Manager and GM
  • Coordination of daily scheduling for all products
  • Logistical Planning for all products in conjunction with Management Team
  • Planning and Execution of Guide Training and Office Staff Education in conjunction with Management Team
  • Planning and execution of continuous training through season
  • Monitors helicopter flying times and expenses to make sure they are kept within guidelines.
  • Emergency Rescue Plan: ensures we are prepared to a reasonable standard to rescue staff and guests.
  • Generates new ideas and works on special projects that that will improve the functionality of our operation.
  • Documentation: accidents and incidents are documented for insurance and educational purposes.
  • Supervises staff for in-field guiding and miscellaneous assignments. Maintains a positive working environment and runs meetings as required
  • Avalanche forecasting: ensures data is presented, maintained, preserved and that the information remains available to staff as required.
  • Communications: ensures a proper flow of communication is maintained between guides, clients, helicopters and the base.
  • Employee experience: takes responsibility and ownership of the relationship between operations staff and management.
  • Worker safety: employment is conducted within Work Safe BC standards and worker injuries are reported as required.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Lead Guiding Responsibilities:

  • Briefs other guides and pilots with the days plan.
  • Ensures helicopter has all rescue equipment aboard
  • Monitors and coordinates all groups in the field.
  • Meets and greets our guests in a friendly and professional manner
  • Conducts training for our guests to industry standards: transceiver orientation;
  • Helicopter orientation; field procedures.
  • Drives passengers to various locations in commercial vans and buses.
  • Delivers a backcountry skiing product
  • Guides clients away from mountain and helicopter hazards.
  • Provide excellent customer care and service
  • Ensures guiding is considerate to other groups to maintain a good pace during the day.
  • Maintains a state of readiness to respond to field emergencies.
  • Analyses the snowpack for instabilities and gathers and shares field observations.
  • Coordinates lunch for our clients. Leads mid-day meetings.
  • Records and communicates extra runs skied
  • Communicates customer service issues with the store staff as required.
  • Attends company meetings as required
  • Uses the helicopter efficiently respecting company standards
  • Completes company and industry field documentation daily.

Job Qualifications:

  • CSGA Level 3, ACMG Ski Guide or IFMGA Mountain Guide with over 75 days guiding under mentorship.
  • Meet’s CPD requirements as per guiding certification
  • Professional member of CAA
  • 80 hour first aid certification, current
  • AED Certification
  • Current BC Class 4 DL. Clean driving record.
  • Ten years of operational heli ski experience
  • Experience in a leadership role more than 5 years
  • Experience managing and scheduling
