EEMGA Mountain Guides
The East European Mountain Guides Association (EEMGA) was set up in February 2016 as a programme meant to establish a consistent training for professional Mountain Guides in East European countries without IFMGA member associations. The Guides’ Training Programme has been designed and developed so that the IFMGA can offer to the guides in non-IFMGA countries from Eastern and South Eastern Europe a thorough training and assessment in all disciplines associated with the international guiding profession and meets the standards ratified by the International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations (IFMGA – UIAGM – IVBV). The International Mountain Guide qualification is a legal requirement to work as an alpine guide in the European Alps. The EEMGA founders are climbers, skiers, alpinists and mountain guides who understood the need of an internationally accepted standard in exercising the most demanding outdoor profession in European countries without IFMGA member associations, providing thus reciprocal acceptance of mountain guide qualification and the support of free professional activity of mountain guides in the region.
