Bio: My love of the hills and wide open spaces originated where I grew up, on the west coast of Scotland, with time spent hillwalking and then climbing. After moving to Fort William I rock climbed regularly in Glen Nevis, Glen Coe and the rest of the highlands. My winters were spent focussing on the great ice climbs of Ben Nevis and discovering the magic of winter climbing in the highlands. My progression then led me to the Alps where I loved the perfect granite, the big classic North faces and the ephemeral ice climbs. Chamonix was the perfect place where I could climb all year and enjoy my developing passion for skiing in winter. I have also climbed and skied in Norway, Iceland, Canada, Greenland, New Zealand, Tien Shan, Peru, Morocco, Australia, the US and Antarctica. A good friend was training as a mountain guide who encouraged and inspired me to also start my training. During the second half of the training I moved to the French Alps permanently. I have been guiding now for 15 years and live with my family in Sallanches, close to the Chamonix Valley, and within easy reach of Switzerland and the Val d’Aoste in Italy. In a nutshell; I really enjoy doing ski tours or climbs I have not done before as well as established classics and am keen to share this with you and teach you new skills both locally and further afield as well as maximise your potential and have fun!
