Bio: Based in Keswick in the English Lake District Stuart has been a qualified mountain guide since 1985. He specialises in taking individuals and small groups rock climbing, ice climbing, alpine mountaineering, and off-piste skiing. Stuart has led several commercial expeditions to the Greater ranges with successful ascents of 6,000m peaks in India and Nepal. He has climbed all over the world including Big Wall climbs in Yosemite and Baffin Island. Stuart was a former member of the BMG training committee for over 7 years, was the first UK guide to work as a Heli-ski guide in Canada and helped produce the BMG manual on Avalanches. At the moment Stuart Guides mainly rock climbing in the Lake District. He also works as Industrial Safety Consultant and Mountain Safety Co-ordinator for geophysical exploration in the oilfield. Stuart's other passion is white water kayaking where he has been resposible for many first descents of steep becks in the Lake District.
