Bio: Miguel is an AMGA certified Single Pitch Instructor, AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor, and NY State licensed Rock Guide and Emergency Medical Technician. Miguel guides for Rise Outside, a non-profit outdoor programming and climbing guide organization operating primarily in the Shawangunk and Peter’s Kill climbing areas. Miguel is also an instructor at GOAT Climbing Gym in Hackensack, NJ. Miguel is both a life-long learner and educator who began a career in K-12 schools, became an administrator, and emerged as a school health consultant collaborating with schools in efforts to audit policies and practices to improve both student health and well-being, health education, community engagement, and faculty and staff workplace well-being. Miguel’s energy as a rock climbing guide is centered around client safety, fun, and leveraging teaching and learning research and skills to support a every client’s goals. Overall, Miguel believes firmly that the activity, profession, and sport of rock climbing is for everyone, supports a person’s health and balanced living, and can provide a sense of self-achievement no matter how challenging a climb.
