City: Estes Park

Province: CO

Bio: Everett Phillips has spent the last 12 years living and working in mountain ranges across the country. With first ascents in Yosemite and Bolivia and single day skis of the Fuhrer Finger on Mt. Rainier and the Spearhead Traverse in British Columbia, he has a taste for all types of mountain adventure. Although drawn to big lines, Everett also loves to cruise through snowy forests in his backyard (currently Estes Park) and enjoy whatever the mountains have to offer. In addition to chasing personal mountain objectives, Everett strives to keep other climbers and skiers safe as they pursue their own goals in the outdoors. He worked four seasons on the Yosemite Valley Search and Rescue team (YOSAR), where he conducted rescues on El Capitan and other Valley big walls. Work on YOSAR led to a Climbing Ranger job at Mt. Rainier, and eventually to his current summer job as a Climbing Ranger at Rocky Mountain National Park where he has been for the past three seasons. Everett also worked as a professional ski patroller (Attitash, NH; Crystal Mountain, WA; Mammoth Mountain, CA) for nine years, running sleds and dropping explosives on inbounds slopes for avalanche control. As a member of snow safety teams, Everett developed a passion for snow science, which he enjoys sharing with his AIARE students. Everett is a professional member of the American Avalanche Association, attended the National Avalanche School, completed his Avalanche Level III, and is a certified AIARE Course Instructor. He has been a National Registry EMT for 11 years and specializes in backcountry rescue and medicine. Everett has completed AMGA Rock Guide, Ski Guide, and Alpine Guide courses.
