Bio: Derek has traveled widely in pursuit of his climbing passion, scaling rock, ice, and snow in every major range in the continental United States as well as in Argentine Patagonia. His decade of experience climbing and guiding has led him to explore numerous professional roles at commercial guide services, Outward Bound, college and university programs, and military recreation. Derek is certified as a Rock Guide by the American Mountain Guides Association. He is also an Apprentice Alpine Guide, a Wilderness First Responder, a Leave No Trace Trainer, and has completed Level 2 Avalanche training. Derek instructs entry-level guiding certification as a Provider for the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor program.
