Zachary Keene AMGA

AMGA Single Pitch Instructor

City: Incline Village

Province: CA

Bio: I grew up in northern Vermont with all of New England as a playground. In the summers, my parents threw myself and a bunch of gear in the back of the family pick-up truck and drove west. For all intents and purposes, I was climbing before I could walk! My father is a snowboard coach by trade. I became involved with the local snowboarding program and rode competitively through my teenage years, until knee surgery interrupted my goals of going professional. I went to college for English literature, working a summer job in the Yosemite high country between semesters. After graduating, I moved into my van and chased the warm weather/climbing around the southwest. In May of 2023, I passed my Single Pitch Instructor exam at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon. My ultimate goal is to be a rock guide. Yosemite and the Eastern Sierra are my stomping grounds. I love the mountains of California like no other place on earth and have explored them thoroughly. Still, I could never do everything these mountains have to offer, not if I had a dozen lifetimes.
